Forty target scenes. The Coon Shoot after dark. Free camping both nights, a home-cooked kitchen all weekend — and it is $25 to shoot, with kids under 9 free.
There is a difference, and you feel it about four targets in.
A buck and a doe worked into the same setup. A hog you have to thread past a leaning trunk. Three bears at three different distances, and you pick which one you are shooting. We don't set targets in a field and call it a course — we build scenes, so you come around the bend and feel like you have walked up on something.
Forty of them, across forty acres and four trails we mix and match. It takes the club weeks to set, and it is the reason people come back every September.
Two hundred shooters came through last year.
These are real setups from last year's Wing Ding. We build the course fresh every year, so what you walk in September will be new to you — but this is the standard.

Walk-ups are always welcome. We register right up to the cutoff both days and we take credit cards at the table — buying online just gets you through the gate faster and earns you a free patch.
Give yourself time. Allow about three hours to walk the full forty scenes. Sunday registration closes at 11:00 AM and scorecards are due at 1:00 PM — if you want the whole course, come early rather than late.
Twenty raccoon targets. A completely different course from the one you walked all day. Saturday, after dark, headlamps on. It is the part everybody talks about for the next twelve months.

Engraved, with crossed arrows. One goes to the top traditional shooter and one to the top compound shooter — the same prize on both sides of the sport.
Free to shoot
Class winners take certificates and plaques. Door prizes are drawn at random all weekend, so shooting well is not the only way to go home with something.

Your equipment decides which stake you shoot from. Binoculars may be used in any class — but no rangefinders, anywhere on the course.
Traditional and recurve — no sights, fingers only. Longbow — no sights, fingers only. Longbow, flatbow and selfbow.
Barebow compound — no sights, fingers only. Compound, recurve and longbow with fixed sights and fingers. Bowhunter — fingers. Bowhunter release — compound, recurve and longbow, all with fixed sights and a release.
Open — compound, recurve and longbow with movable sights. Release or fingers, scopes and so on.
Cubs — ages 9 to 11.
Under 9. Pee Wees do not shoot a stake at all — a parent picks the spot, anywhere on the course.
Free to shoot.
Friday and Saturday night, no charge. Two camping areas, a picnic spot with a community firepit, a swingset and the gaga ball pit, and forty acres to wander. Roll in Friday evening and you have got the whole weekend.
Breakfast at 7:00 AM both days — biscuits and gravy, biscuits from scratch and gravy from scratch. Lunch from 10:30 AM, pulled pork. Saturday the kitchen stays open all day, right through dinner.
Saturday night: ham and beans, red beans and rice, homemade ice cream and desserts, served 5:00 to 7:00 PM. $5 a plate with a drink, $2 for dessert. Eat first, then head out for the Coon Shoot.
Saturday dinner is a fundraiser for Troop 1119, the female Scout troop the club charters. Every plate goes straight back into the girls' program.
Nobody is living out of a cooler at this shoot. Breakfast and lunch prices will be posted soon.
The kitchen is cash only. Registration takes cards, but the kitchen does not — bring cash if you plan to eat.
Tickets are $1 or $2 depending on the prize, at the kitchen all weekend. Knife tip boards run the same — $1 and $2 a spot.

Youth season opens September 26 and 27 — the weekend right after us.
Forty scenes built to look like real hunting situations: angles, cover, terrain, changing light. A free practice range to sight in on. A raffle table stacked with ladder stands, knives and a dehydrator.
If you are going to shoot one 3D event before the season, this is the one that looks most like the season.
